The Good
News Web Designers is a Catholic ministry with an ecumenical
orientation and is founded on our common ground of Christian
faith. We are all members of the One Body of Christ, despite
our denominational differences.
Please
be aware that some Protestants think that Catholics are
unsaved. To them, I give the assurance that we Catholics, like
all true Christians, are disciples and worshippers of Jesus
Christ; He is our Lord and Savior.
Please
also be aware that there are some Protestant websites that
contain material that's full of falsehoods about the Catholic
Church. Often, applicants for membership in the GNWDA post links
to Christian apologetics sites without realizing the harm they're
doing to the Body of Christ. If you have such links or if you
share Christian links in emails with fellow GNWDA members, please
first check them carefully for anti-Catholic content.
Whatever
information about the Catholic Church that you find on a non-Catholic
site, assume that at least some of the information is wrong,
and if it's there in an attempt to "save" people from
Catholicism, the site is anti-Catholic and it's wounding the
Body of Christ with its judgmentalism. It's using falsehoods
and misunderstandings about Catholicism to unfairly condemn
us.
Therefore,
as a Catholic-sponsored ministry, the GNWDA cannot in good conscience
become an inadvertent source of misinformation and falsehoods
about Catholicism through its members. If you are sincere about
showing respect for all Christian denominations, including Catholicism,
then you don't want to link to websites that hurt the Body of
Christ in any way. Please check your links and remove from
your site(s) any that have anti-Catholic content, because
it's a violation of GNWDA membership requirements. You can
lose your membership over any links that are divisive to the
Body of Christ.
The GNWDA
is not a forum for debating the teachings of Catholicism or
any doctrinal differences of Christian denominations. However,
on this webpage I will give an example to put at ease the concerns
that some Protestants have about the validity of my stand against
Protestant apologetics sites that unfairly judge Catholicism.
The following is a quote from a very popular Christian answers
site that wants to convince you that Catholic beliefs are sinful:
"The
Roman Catholic faith has shown a willingness to raise the
pope above Jesus Christ and the Bible by giving him the right
to nullify Scripture through papal decrees."
The truth
is, the pope is never above Christ, and Scripture is always
all-important in the Catholic faith. No papal decree or official
Church teaching is allowed to nullify Scripture; they are always
based on Scripture and always reference Scripture verses throughout,
in nearly every written paragraph. We have had popes in the
distant past who were not true servants of Christ, and when
they made decrees that nullified scripture, they were disobedient
to true Catholicism.
Ironically,
Protestant apologetics sites like the one quoted above exist
to enlighten readers with the truth and set them straight about
falsehoods, and yet they publish falsehoods. Their research
is poor. They pull things out of context from Catholic resources
only to prove their point, with no interest in learning what
the Catholic Church really professes to believe. If they were
to dig a little deeper, go to true Catholic sources, and research
fully, they would gain a different understanding. They'd discover
that there is nothing unChristian in Catholicism.
Between
the time of the Reformation and Vatican Council II (in the 1960s),
Catholics used to condemn other Christian denominations as heretical,
claiming that Protestants were not saved. Since then, the Catholic
Church has repented of this. Now it's Protestants who are condemning
Catholics and just as unfairly. Oh how we grieve our Lord Jesus!
We hurt our own Body, for we are all part of the same Body of
Christ. I pray that we all will repent of this!
The GNWDA
is set on the solid stone of Christ. This stone is built upon
by our common love for each other and respect for all Christian
expressions of faith. Praise Jesus!
Your sister
in Christ,
Terry Modica
